FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Peering?
EdgeNXT’s Peering service lets networks connect and exchange traffic directly with each other on a neutral platform. This helps ISPs, CDNs, cloud providers, and enterprises share traffic faster, more securely, and at lower cost than going through traditional transit routes.
What is the difference between bilateral and multilateral peering?
- Bilateral: Direct BGP session between two ASNs with full routing control.
- Multilateral: Single session to a route server, which redistributes validated routes using IRR/RPKI filtering, max-prefix limits, and BGP communities.
How does EdgeNXT define SLA-backed vs. best-effort services?
SLA-backed services guarantee RTT latency ≤1 ms, jitter ≤0.5 ms, packet loss <0.1%, and uptime ≥99.99%. Best-effort services provide connectivity without formal guarantees.
How does EdgeNXT IX support AI data and compute workloads?
EdgeNXT supports AI data and compute workloads by enabling high-volume, low-latency data exchange between data sources, cloud platforms, and compute environments. Co-located within AI-ready data centers, EdgeNXT provides proximity to AI infrastructure while operating as a neutral Internet Exchange, ensuring AI-era data flows without changing how peering or routing works.
What is the pricing difference between SLA and non-SLA services?
SLA services guarantee performance benchmarks and typically cost more. Exact pricing depends on EdgeNXT’s service models.
What support does EdgeNXT provide?
- Marketplace → Subscriptions and activation
- IX Peering → BGP setup, routing config, monitoring
- IoT Exchange → Secure, low-latency fabric provisioning
Additional: onboarding, 24/7 NOC support, compliance guidance.
What operational safeguards are in place?
- IRR/RPKI route filtering
- BGP communities (selective advertisements, blackholing, scope control)
- Max-prefix limits
